Nelida Smyser-DeLeon

Nelida Smyser- De Leon, "Nelly", serves as the Local Operations Manager at the Chicago Pilsen Office for the Illinois Department of Employment of Security (IDES) since June 2022. Within these three years, she was detailed to work with her Chicago Regional Manager in 2024 and is currently on an assignment at the Lombard Claim Service Center. She holds a bachelor's degree in marketing and a minor in Commercial Spanish from De Paul University. 

Nelly also worked eight years for the Illinois Department of Human Services in several policy roles and worked with federal employees on housing relocation and asset management in Cairo, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Alabama. 

She started her career in the private sector and worked for several fortune 500 companies, Global Recruiters Network and National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).
